Describe the material and operating duty
Begin with the material being conveyed and whether the application is wet slurry or dry transfer. Share the available particle-size information, normal operating conditions and any known changes in the duty. Include documented flow, pressure, temperature and chemical information where relevant. These are inputs for the supplier's assessment, not a shortcut to selecting a ceramic grade. If a value is unknown, identify the gap rather than estimating it.
Make the required component clear
State whether the enquiry covers a straight pipe, elbow, reducer, branch, pump connection or a larger package. Provide existing drawings, nominal bore, component dimensions and connection specifications from your records. Include the material of the surrounding pipework when known. CUMI offers fabricated ceramic lined pipes and fittings as well as ceramic lined flexible hose, so a clear component schedule helps establish what should be included in the quotation.
Explain movement, fit and wear history
Note where the existing arrangement needs to accommodate vibration, movement or alignment constraints. Describe any limitations already documented by your engineering team. For a hose enquiry, identify the required end connections, such as fixed flanges, rotating flanges or plain ends. Share the current component type, recorded service life and location of recurring wear. Existing inspection reports can help the supplier understand the problem without assuming that the present design should simply be repeated.
Set the scope of the supplier conversation
Explain whether you want a replacement to an approved specification or an assessment of alternative products. Define your priorities, such as a longer replacement interval, a better fit or more predictable maintenance planning. Ask what application information is still needed, which drawings require confirmation and what documentation will accompany the supply. For assets with limited wear visibility, pipeline monitoring can be a separate discussion. Keep product suitability and final specifications subject to the appropriate technical review.
